ARI Pride - received a very nice email this morning ........Kudos to ARI employees showing pride in their trade. Good morning ARI, Last night we had a "Copeland Compressor Tear Down Class" at our United Refrigeration Inc. branch in Harlingen, TX. and customers from various companies attended. We gathered four or five Copeland cores (compressors) to get torn down and inspect them to see why they failed. Our Copeland Rep was conducting the class and set us loose on the compressors and I was fortunate enough to witness something I hadn't seen in a long time. Among the customers that graced us with their presence, were three of your employees. These three employees urged the younger, less experienced technicians, to tear down the compressor. When the younger technicians hesitated, your techs were quick to get their own tools and show the younger ones how it's done. I would like to mention, that on my personal time, I volunteer in two Advisory Board Committees for the HVAC Departments in two colleges, Texas Southmost College in Brownsville and Texas State Technical College in Harlingen. I have recommended these colleges to make a push towards teaching more of the refrigeration part of our industry. The reason for this push is because as we all know, the refrigeration industry will soon reach a shortage of refrigeration techs, if not already. The trend in most technical / vocational schools is that most students want to be A/C techs opposed to refrigeration techs. This, in the long run, will make it difficult to find technicians to make the transition to the refrigerations side of our industry. It is important to get the younger technicians interested in refrigeration at a young age so our industry can have experienced technicians so when our present and seasoned refrigeration technicians start to retire. Your three employees, last night, displayed a "sense of community" by not caring what shirt the other technicians wore. They simply took it upon themselves to share their wisdom and displayed a patience with the younger technicians that I have not seen in a long time. I would like for you, ARI, to know that Willie, Dan, and Ernie, are to be commended for their actions last night. Thank you for allowing them to come to our class even though, it is obvious, that their knowledge far exceeds the content of the class. Enrique Del Angel "Rick" Branch Manager United Refrigeration Inc.
