UNC School of Dentistry shared UNC India Project's post.
Are you following along with the UNC India Project as they provide dental care and oral health education in India? If not, be sure to like their page to see their photos and hear their updates!
Day 1: Dr. Ahmed, Kaushal, Ann, Jaehee and Rahim are finally together in India and started the first day off with a tour of the Yenopoya Dental College. One big similarity between UNC and YDC was that both schools had all the dental specialties within the building. We visited each department and met predoc students, post graduate residents, and professors and shadowed several treatments, and learned about dental tools like the orthodontic "Max Gym" that originally came from YDC. Unlike UNC, YDC is open from Monday through Saturday for patients to come in for FREE treatment (except cosmetic), which really surprised and inspired us. YDC has blown our minds already with their well organized structure in providing access and excellent care for the community and thorough education for students, and we are excited to begin this international collaborative dental project with them! 🇮🇳🤝🇺🇸 - Namaste, @uncindiaproject Sumitha Nazar Ahmed Kaushal Gandhi Dhingra Jaehee Yoo Ann Danello Rahim Zalal
