We're so excited to announce that our dear friend W. Kamau Bell will be coming to visit us for his very first book tour!
A Night of Stand-up and Discussion Please join us in welcoming our dear friend W. Kamau Bell to Oak Park to discuss his first book, The Awkward Thoughts of W. Kamau Bell: Tales of A 6' 4", African American, Heterosexual, Cisgender, Left-Leaning, Asthmatic, Black and Proud Blerd, Mama’s Boy, Dad, and Stand-up Comedian. You may know him from his hit CNN show, United Shades of America, or before that, his short-lived FX show, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, or perhaps one of his podcasts, or his stand-up comedy, or his touring one-man show, The W. Kamau Bell Curve: Ending Racism in About an Hour. But Jason, the co-owner of The Book Table, knows him because Jason and Kamau have been BFFs since the 10th grade. Jason has been a champion of Kamau's comedy career since those first awkward open mic nights in Chicago in the 90s. Now, with the publication of Kamau's first book, their careers finally collide at this special event. The Awkward Thoughts of W. Kamau Bell is a hilarious, well-informed take on the world today, tackling a wide range of evergreen issues, such as race relations; fatherhood; the state of law enforcement today; comedians and superheroes; right-wing politics; failure; his interracial marriage; his upbringing by very strong-willed, race-conscious, yet ideologically opposite parents; his early days struggling to find his comedic voice, then his later days struggling to find his comedic voice; why he never seemed to fit in with the Black comedy scene . . . or the white comedy scene; how he was a Black nerd way before that became a thing; how it took his wife and an East Bay lesbian to teach him that racism and sexism often walk hand in hand; and much, much more. Tickets: $33 (All ticket holders will receive a FREE copy of the book, The Awkward Thoughts of W. Kamau Bell, at the door.)

Twoface - style split personality via allergy pills from a slightly mysterious doctor, accept her not evil self kinda sucks too. Evil self = probably a murderer.
