Since we began doing these crew member biographies, we have added a new member to the Sox and Freeman family. K.C. Cash began working here in February. He is another solid team member on Caleb Hughes' crew. K.C. comes to Sox and Freeman from Virginia. He was born and raised there. He began his tree climbing working with his grand-father. Before coming to South Carolina, K.C. also worked for a tree company out of Florida. Family is what brought him to the Columbia area as his girlfriend has family here. K.C. knew he wanted to work with trees and be outside for a living. He began looking for companies that had certified arborist on staff and who were willing to help train him to achieve that goal for himself as well. Sox and Freeman fit that criteria. K.C. fits in well with the crew. He enjoys pruning and the intricacies of doing it properly. He has shown a wonderful personality, a willingness to learn from more experienced crew members, and a desire to do the job right everytime. We are glad he is now a part of the Sox and Freeman Tree Company Family

We are truly a blessed company here at Sox and Freeman Tree Company. We do dangerous yet amazing work each and everyday. We work with awesome co-workers. To top it all off, we work for amazing customers! Seeing how we have been blessed as a company makes us want to help out whenever and wherever we can on various community projects. This past weekend, a dozen or so employees and their families volunteered their time to help package meals at North Trenholm Baptist through Feeding Children Everywhere. Sox and Freeman along with hundreds of others helped fill and seal a dried casserole meal that is then boxed and shipped to local food banks as well as to other countries around the globe who are in dire need of food. Approximately 40,000 meals were packaged that day. We are happy that Sox and Freeman could be a part of helping achieve this goal!

Chris Alexander is the next member of Andrew Walker's crew that we would like to profile. Chris has been with Sox and Freeman for a little over a year now. He is a newly wed. He and his wife have one son together. Chris grew up in Gilbert, SC. He attended Gilbert High School. Shortly after high school, Chris joined the United States Navy. He was mainly on the aircraft carrier USS George Washington stationed out of Japan. He served proudly for three years getting out in 2013. Chris made his way to Sox and Freeman through his friendships with some of the other Gilbert folks we have around here. Chris is another climber for the crew. While technically still in training, he has shown particular prowess for tackling big trees. He is learning what is expected from each member on the crew and what their job entails when on the job site. Chris is hard working and dedicated to each task being done. He possesses a great personality and is willing to learn from the more experienced guys. We feel he gained these attributes while serving his country and is now putting them to good use working for Sox and Freeman. We are happy to have Chris as part of the family. We know that if what he as already done here is any indication of what is to come for him, he has a very bright future here with us!

A little over a year ago, we purchased the home across the street from our current location in order to convert it into our new offices. The home was built around 1903, and we kept as much of the old character and charm of it as we could. Your continued support and business, from both new and old customers, have made this move possible. Our goal is to better serve our clients and this new facility enables us to do so. This home is as much yours as ours! We would also like to thank Derrick Homes LLC for guiding us through the building process. Awesome people to work with from start to finish!

David Morris is the next crew member of Andrew’s crew that we would like to showcase. David has been with Sox and Freeman Tree Company now for three and a half years. He was born in Thailand, but grew up in California. David has been married for 14 years now. He and his wife have eight, yes eight, children! David has made his way all across the United States. While living in Florida and working for a church affiliated organization he met his wife. There they helped with under privileged families, one of which they grew very attached to. This family had three children who were growing up under extremely difficult conditions. The Morris took it upon themselves to give these children a better life. David and his wife adopted these three children. The family moved again to New Hampshire and continued to expand by leaps and bounds. David eventually made his way from “Up North” to the South following an ad we placed in a tree care magazine. David is the second climber on the crew. He worked with Caleb for quite some time and has picked up on the pruning techniques we put so much effort into perfecting. David, along with Caleb, helped pioneer the switch in our company to single rope technique. His passion for new and cutting edge climbing techniques have benefited all of the climbers in our company. He is funny, dedicated, and possesses a great work attitude. He loves climbing and often does it for recreation, and sometimes even on his lunch break! We are so proud to have had David learn here at Sox and Freeman. He is a true asset to the company and we know he will do great things here!
