Merry Christmas from the Solich Electric family! We hope everyone out there has a happy and safe holiday!

I'm sure you've already put up those Christmas decorations, but here are a few tips from the U.S. Fire Administration to remember when putting up those lights! - Inspect holiday lights each year for frayed wires, bare spots, gaps in the insulation, broken or cracked sockets, and excessive kinking or wear before putting them up. Use only lighting listed by an approved testing laboratory. - Do NOT Overload Electrical Outlets! - Do not link more than three light strands, unless the directions indicate it is safe. Connect strings of lights to an extension cord before plugging the cord into the outlet. Make sure to periodically check the wires – they should not be warm to the touch. - Do not leave holiday lights on unattended! Also, Can you remember the last time that you changed the batteries in your smoke detectors? They should be changed at least once a year. Write the date on the battery with a marker when you change them so you don't forget. If you need additional circuits and or outlets to accommodate all of those holiday decorations, give us a call!

We here at Solich Electric would like to thank all of those who have served or are currently serving this great country of ours, as well as their families. Memorial Day is a day for remembering those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country. It is a day to remember comrades, friends, and family members who have fallen in service to their country. With that being said, we hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend, whatever you may be doing.

I don't think that's going to work...

Do the outlets in your house look like this from all of the Christmas lights that you have plugged in? You don't need us to tell you that that is a major safety hazard! If you need extra circuits or additional outlets installed, give us a call! A few facts from the NFPA: - Between 2007-2011, U.S. fire departments responded to an average of 230 home fires that started with Christmas trees per year. - These fires caused an average of 6 deaths, 22 injuries, and $18.3 million in direct property damage annually. - On average, one of every 40 reported home fires that began with a Christmas tree resulted in a death, compared to an average of one death per 142 total reported home fires. - Electrical problems were factors in one-third (32%0 of home Christmas tree structure fires. - Two of every five (39%) home Christmas tree fires started in the living room, family room, or den.
