IMPORTANT INFO IF YOU ARE ACQUIRING NEW HOME OWNER'S INSURANCE! Do you have a Federal Pacific Electric panel in your home? Thinking of buying or selling a home? Thinking of changing companies for your homeowner's insurance? You need to read this if any of these questions apply to you. Due to changes in the law in the past 2 years, insurance companies will not write a policy for your home or one you are considering buying if it has an FPE, Federal Pacific Electric, and sometimes another brand known as Zinsco / Sylvania circuit breaker panel in it. These 2 brands were the cheapest available from the late 1950's to the early 1980's and are all over South Florida. Due to design flaws they are considered a fire hazard today. Insurance companies now have the right to require a 4 point inspection of your home for new policies and will deny you homeowner's insurance if one of these panels are in the home. If you have had the same policy for years and continue to renew it, this may not be an issue for you yet. Once the insurance company knows it is in your home they will either deny coverage or give you 30 days to have it replaced. If you are trying to sell your home and the inspection report reveals one of these panels, the buyer will not be able to get coverage to close the loan. If you have one of these panels call Sherman Electric today 954-942-9770 to get more information about replacing it to avoid a fire hazard and delays of your new policy.
