Wondering about your Nutrition? Stop by our Concord store tomorrow at 6:30 and find out more about how to get the most out of your training fuel!
Concentrating on Recovery There are two components that will forecast a runner’s performance during a race: training and recovery. While both are equally important, training usually gets all of the attention. How many of you have a 14 week training plan mapped out but haven’t thought twice about the fuel that will get you there? Unless you are training all day, you are spending the majority of your time in the recovery phase. The better your diet, the better your recovery rate which means you can schedule your workouts closer together thus making quicker gains in your strength and endurance. Jennifer will discuss common ailments that hinder athletic performance and how proper nutrient intake, hydration and timing play a role in alleviating symptoms therefore allowing the runner to focus first and foremost on their training. She will examine the challenges of obtaining essential nutrients that runners often encounter and what will happen if particular nutrient dense foods are overlooked and highly processed versions of them are consumed. Achieving a healthy, active lifestyle is not effortless task. Jennifer will provide tips to assist you in determining where you can make improvements with your own food choices while focusing on obtaining optimal nutrition. Jennifer has achieved certification in plant-based nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Foundation at eCornell University, and currently teaches health and science at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men. Jennifer is an avid runner and has assisted Concord’s Runner’s Alley as a nutritionist for their half marathon and 10K training groups. Her passion lies in informing and educating adults about their role in creating their own optimal health and preventing chronic disease. She seeks to assist others in identifying their nutrient deficiencies along with providing knowledge regarding the role nutrients play in the body, and how they can best be attained. Jennifer stresses that regardless the condition you may find yourself in, it is never too late to improve your diet, thereby increasing your level of performance and overall of wellness.
