The industrial coatings trade has become a highly technical profession with the introduction of more sophisticated coatings, and the need for qualified craft workers is now greater than ever. In light of this, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 7 is sponsoring the 2018 Coating and Corrosion Expo to be held on January 24, 2018 at the IUPAT DC7 Headquarters in Big Bend, WI from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) developed the Coating Application Specialist (CAS) certification program to verify the capabilities of individual craft workers who perform surface preparation and coating application in the industrial and marine markets. The program objective is to determine whether an individual craft worker has the skill and knowledge to do quality surface preparation and protective coatings application. This expo is FREE and is open to any facility owner, manager, architect, engineer, or elected official and is designed to educate professionals about the effects of corrosion and will offer information on the training and products in the coatings industry. There will be speakers and experts in the industry demonstrating their products and offering advice. Exhibitors will be on hand to answer questions and show the latest products and training. There will also be live demonstrations of surface preparation and application with a “hands on” demonstration of virtual reality spray painting. A representative of PPG will deliver a one hour seminar with "A Continuing Education Unit” certificate for course participation. Lunch will be provided free with RSVP. Please consider attending and inviting anyone that is available to attend.
