Most babies are ready to start making the switch to a sippy cup between 6-9 months. By the time they're 12 months, its best to stop using the bottle altogether. If she's still having a hard time, offer a blankie or stuffed animal as comfort during her transition. #DentalFAQ

Megyn Kelly's July 9th program on NBC covered some of the risks associated with sedation in dental offices that... fb.me/1ORomdZyW

Megyn Kelly's program on NBC covered some of the risks associated with sedation in dental offices that parents MUST be aware of (see the link below). Here are some key statements from that program:1)"Children are much more vulnerable to the effect of sedation and anesthesia than adults are", 2)Dentists have a financial incentive when providing sedation in their offices, 3)One training company suggested dentists can make an extra $12,000/month by providing sedation in their offices, 4)Children's death in dental offices is preventable, 5)A dentist, Bethaniel Jefferson, DDS, license was revoked by the Texas Dental Board for doing unnecessary dental work. To reduce the risks associated with sedation, our patients receive their treatment in the safe environment of a hospital and in the presence of a pediatric anesthesiologist. The safety of our patients is our priority. There is NO such thing as 100% RISK FREE sedation, but in the right environment the risks associated with sedation can be decrease. Dr. Sedighi is transparent when explaining the risks and benefits of sedation to parents. Loss of life is one of the risks associated with sedation. For the well-being of children, unnecessary dental treatment and sedation must be avoided. We encourage parents to ask questions and seek a 2nd or 3rd opinion if their pediatric dentist is recommending sedation for their children. Parents MUST consult with their pediatrician if sedation is recommended for their child's dental treatment. It has been our experience that seeking treatment by an In-Network Pediatric Dentist who might be recommending sedation for your child might not be the safest and least expensive way of providing your child's dental care. If your child's sedation is being provided in a dental office, then parents should ask questions about any financial arrangement that might exist between the pediatric dental office and the anesthesiologist/anesthesiologist group. Please share this post and Megyn Kelly's program with other parents. SAFETY FIRST. Thank you for reading our post. One of the earliest references to the Tooth Fairy that we know and love was in an article in the Chicago Daily Tribune in 1908: "Many a refractory child will allow a loose tooth to be removed if he knows about the tooth fairy. If he takes his little tooth and puts it under the pillow when he goes to bed the tooth fairy will come in the night and take it away, and in its place will leave some little gift." #ToothFairyTuesday #DentalHistory
