[Gas Restoration Update] We are working safely and as quickly as possible to restore gas service to your homes and businesses. We appreciate your patience during this process, and we understand your urgency in relighting. As your safety is our top priority, we ask that you please not attempt to relight pilot lights yourself. For your safety, let PG&E do this for you. As we work through the restoration process, we pressure test and safety check the gas system several times. When individuals attempt to relight their own service, this results in a delay for all customers who are out of service. If you have already relighted your own gas service, please call 1-800-743-5000 so that we can provide a safety check. Our crews are working around the clock with CAL FIRE to ensure areas are safe to access and to restore service and relight pilot lights. From the start of these disastrous wildfires, our singular focus has been the life safety and well-being of the customers and communities we serve. Yesterday at a meeting with community members in Santa Rosa, Geisha Williams, PG&E's CEO, shared her commitment, dedication and resources of the company to help customers rebuild and restore their lives. “We have been part of these communities for more than 100 years. These people are our friends and neighbors, and we are devastated by what they are going through. We will work shoulder to shoulder with them to restore and rebuild what’s been lost, for as long as it takes.” Restoration and Safety Update: Saturday, October 14 - 8 p.m. Since the fires began last Sunday, PG&E restored electric power to 92% of the 310,000 PG&E customers with impacted service. Crews have worked around the clock, reducing the total of remaining wildfire-related outages to about 23,300, mostly located in Sonoma and Napa counties. We activated multiple emergency centers, established base camps for crews in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and positioned crews to assess the damage and restore customers’ gas and electric service. We also turned off 36,000 gas services, impacting about 42,000 customers. As of 5 p.m. today, we have completed approximately 16,800 gas relights/restorations. Currently, we have about 25,500 customers without gas service. Crews are actively working through the affected areas to restore gas service. Please note: In order to restore gas service, we will need access to your meter and your premise. If you are not home when we arrive, we will leave contact information for you. Safety: Treat all downed power lines as if they are energized and extremely dangerous. If you see a downed power line, keep yourself and others well away from them and immediately call 911, then notify PG&E’s 24-hour emergency and customer service line at 1-800-743-5002. If you smell or hear gas escaping inside your home or business, get everyone outside to a safe location away from the building and upwind where you can no longer smell natural gas.
