Less is more with clean lines and a simple material palette for this gorgeous backyard oasis. The owners wanted a patio that will fit all their fine furniture (the furniture photos will come soon), a gas hook up for a modern fire pit, another gas hook up for a green egg, a lawn for their children to play, a deck that allowed for another exit out into the back yard, an aspen grove, a mid-century modern walkway to connect the front and the back, and an urban farm where they can harvest apples, plums, and pears. All of this in a small, urban downtown back yard! Designed by Suzanne Day Audette Design

We finished this unique landscape design/build project in Brokentop in the Fall of 2016. One of the homeowners, who is a very talented painter, is inspired by landscapes of chaos. This lead to the concept behind the design: order versus chaos or man versus nature. We removed the large turf area in the back of this Brokentop residence and replaced the existing lawn with usable patio space. All irrigation in the backyard area was removed and retrofitted to low water use drip irrigation. The flagstone patio is a 2" mahogany flagstone with a Xtreme Poly to fill the joints. The existing water feature was decommissioned and turned into a fire feature within the patio. We plumbed a 3/4" fusion gas line with a simple valve so the owners had the ability to have a large flame fire feature or smaller flames depending on preference. We added some berms and trees to create privacy and lots of perrenials for seasonal color. We also built an outdoor kitchen on the back patio.

We just completed this landscape renovation/ outdoor living space on the westside of Bend! The original landscaping was just a steep hill side with nothing more than some sage and rabbit brush and boulder outcroppings, The owners really wanted to carve out a space in the useless hillside that enable...

We designed & built a backyard campsite per request for the Vassallos. We used a natural looking paver, installed a handcrafted pergola, and built a natural gas fire feature with mossy boulders and faux gas logs. We really enjoy landscaping these small backyards because of how much value you can get for your dollar. Check out the entire project here:
