About Galion

Galion was founded in 1842 and flourished when two rail lines came through town in the 1850s. Today it is a rural city of just over 10,000 people located in southeastern Crawford County, and some of the corporation limits extend into Richland County and Morrow County.

Galion is approximately half way between Cleveland and Columbus. Major highways nearby include US 30, and State Routes 19, 61, 309 and 598. Galion is also located 30 minutes west of Interstate 71. Nearby communities include: Bucyrus to the west, Crestline to the north, Ontario to the east, and Mount Gilead to the south.
