Homestead Beer Company shared Granville Rocks Pelotonia's event.
Hey cyclists, get signed up for the Alpe D' Denison Pelotonia Hill Climb Challenge and help us raise some money to fight cancer! Party afterward at Moe's Original Bar B Que- Granville, OH!
NEW DATE -- same great event! We were postponed by severe weather on July 7, but we're ready to try it again on July 28! Test your climbing legs (or, this year, your balance!) at the 2nd annual Alpe d’ Denison Hillclimb Challenge. It’s a short, sweet, lung busting, leg burning, gut checking, timed sprint (on a bike) up a nasty hill on Denison University’s Ebaugh Drive. It’s not Alpe d’Huez, but it’ll do! Bragging rights and other great prizes are up for grabs! But this year it’s not just for people who can go fast up the hill. We’re starting at 5:30PM with the ‘Slo Rida Challenge.’ That’s right, who can go up the hill the slowest without touching a foot to the ground (or otherwise falling over)! How slo can you go? The HIllcimb Challenge will begin at 6:00PM. We’ve made some exciting changes from last year: • Chip timing • Instant results and standings • Advance, online registration and t-shirt order (see link below) • Discounts for multiple climbs • In addition to prizes for the fastest single climb, a King of the Mountain and Queen of the Mountain prize will be awarded for the fastest combined time for at least three climbs Bring family and friends to cheer you on, and stick around for the after-party at Moe’s Original Bar B Que-Granville. There will be a Homestead Beer Company tap takeover, a cash prize for the night’s best karaoke singer, and great raffle prizes and silent auction items to win! SPONSORS A huge thank you to all of our sponsors that make the Hillclimb possible: VeloScience Bike Works, Always Forward Crossfit, Price Makes a Difference HER Realtors, Airrosti, Homestead Beer Co, and Moe’s Original Bar B Que. DETAILS Registration fee: Slo Rida Challenge -- $15 (one time only)* Hillclimb Challenge -- $20/one time; $30/two times; $40/unlimited climbs* *There will be a $5 additional charge for ‘day of’ registration. And, sorry, but we can only accept cash ‘day of.’ Register now at: Prizes: Le Grimpeur Extraordinaire (The Extraordinary Climber) title will be awarded to the fastest male and female riders for a single climb time in the following age divisions: • <19 • 19-29 • 30-39 • 40-49 • 50-59 • 60+ The King and Queen of the Mountain titles will be awarded to the one man and one woman who record the fastest combined time on at least three attempts. Anybody can do it once. Who can do it three times fast? Directions: The climb is on the back side of the Denison University campus on Ebaugh Drive. Use the East Gate entrance (off North Pearl Street/SR 161) and follow signs. Participants will turn right just past the tennis courts onto Ebaugh Drive and park in a lot on the left. Friends, family, spectators, and cowbell ringers can continue up Washington Drive to a parking lot near the top of the hill on the right. Just follow the signs. Start/Finish Lines: The start is near the first goalpost as you ride toward the hill on Ebaugh Drive. The finish is at the crosswalk on the top level of the parking lot – you are not done when you reach the parking lot; turn right, there’s a steep switchback left to conquer! (The Slo Rida Challenge course will be shorter.) The start and finish lines are currently marked (duck tape is good for everything!) so you can give it a try. Lay down a time on the ‘Alpe d’ Denison’ Strava segment for everyone else to shoot at! After-Party: The after-party at Moe’s original BBQ “officially” starts at 8:30, but you’re welcome to head down the hill whenever you’re done climbing and/or cheering on the riders. The rest of us will wrap up and head directly to Moe’s as soon as the last rider as taken his or her shot at the hill. There will be great raffle prizes and silent auction items, Homestead beer, karaoke. and a lot of fun on tap! And you don’t have to go to the Hillcimb to join us at the after-party – everyone is welcome!
