Freeze warning tonight. Protect your plants with sheets or plastic (only at night). Use Christmas lights to create heat. Place pots against the house for warmth. Set your hose bibs to drip. Turn off irrigation. To receive text or email freeze warnings directly from the City, sign up for NOLA Ready alerts at ready.nola.gov

Happy New Years Eve! Freezing temps are on the way, so make sure to turn off irrigation systems, bring plants inside, and cover plants that are vulnerable to frost. Empty trash cans and bins make great protective covers for smaller plants.🌴💨❄️

We love the Botanical Garden's classes. Here's the latest citrus workshop announcement from Susan Capley: "Citrus trees are an excellent addition to the Louisiana home orchard. Learn all about varieties that thrive in our area, how to plant them, care for them correctly, and more. This workshop will include pruning demonstrations and detailed information on the many disease and insect challenges that our home citrus trees face. Meet in front of the Oscar J. Tolmas Visitor Center at 9am. Look for Susan Capley, Education Director. The class will take place in the Garden Study Center. Registration is needed a head of time. To register call (504)483-9473 or email scapley@nocp.org. Presenters: Joe Willis, Extension Agent, Anna Timmerman, Assistant Extension Agent & Chris Dunaway, Extension Associate."
