For New Englanders, spending a fall day at Acadia National Park is simply a local pastime: You’ve got to go at least once, if not a few times before winter kicks in, and set up a hammock, hike a trail, climb those cliffs, or explore the coastline. Are you excited to start exploring your favorite spots now that the weather is cooling off? |📷: IG's ntlprk_explr

Because of its vastness, you’ll have to explore Glacier National Park bit by bit, and as one step, some begin with the Helen Lake Trail. Alone, it’s an easy four-mile trek through an alpine valley, where you’ll spot bear grass this time of year, or those looking for a longer challenge – about 13 miles one way – begin the journey at the Chief Mountain Customs Trailhead. When you’ve been to Glacier National Park, did you spend some time on this trail? |📷: IG's mdagostino34

An unforgettable camp-out often brings together a few common elements: Your top outdoor companions, the perfect location, a starry night sky, a roaring fire, and the right gear, whether that’s a hammock, some camp chairs, or a sturdy tent. For you, what elevates a camping trip from just “good” to “great”? |📷: IG's sammyspindel

EASTERN MOUNTAIN SPORTS shared Therealride's post.
Therealride hit their last stop before their homecoming in Boston! They've seen and learned so much along the way. Check out the story from their stop in Philadelphia.
Holy cow! C.B. Community School! Energy and spirit off the charts! We're still spinning from our visit to this Philadelphia gem. After nearly arriving late to the last school visit, and with 45 miles to ride, task master Cris ordered a "hard 7" roll-out. A hard 7 means feet in pedals at 7am. (By contrast, a "soft 8" means 9am. Don't ask. It's part of the convoluted REAL Ride lexicon that's developed naturally over time.) Our sleepy team managed feet in pedals by 7:15, and we arrived on time. And what a reception -- a welcoming sea of cheering, sign-waving students greeted us in the parking lot! They seemed to think we'd done something special. We couldn't wait to say we're in awe of them. Into the packed cafeteria we went, for a rollicking Q&A. The questions simply boiled. Many about the kind of logistics that concern teenagers -- where do we shower? how do we charge our phones? Some astutely focused -- exactly how are we raising awareness about alternative education? what is our ultimate goal? Some unexpected -- can I come with you? We had the chance to speak one-on-one with a number of students, too. Their voices echo their peers' at the other schools. So much is going on in the background of their lives. Their education was in peril, if not dead in the water. This school materialized. Here, they feel a calmness, a focus. Here, they are supported, loved. Here, their needs are understood and met. Here, they can learn. When the teachers wrangled the event to a close (seriously, it could have gone on for hours, these kids so wanted to engage), and the students headed off to classrooms, we heard not one, but several excited shouts of "let's get some learning done!!!" From the kids. Inspired and informed by Boston Day and Evening Academy, the C.B. Community School strives to develop "caring, confident, competent citizens." Indeed, they are. Here we come, Boston . . .

While you can access Horseshoe Bend, a section of the Colorado River shaped like its namesake, by road or by hiking, there’s a roughly 1,000-foot drop from this lookout point to the water below. Out of all the view-worthy spots you’ve been to, which came with the greatest risks? |📷: IG's ntlprk_explr
