Many outdoor enthusiasts planning their next journey have a few bucket-list destinations at the back of their minds. These require a bit more effort – either a longer hike or a greater length to travel – but will be something you’ll be talking about years down the line. For some, Yosemite National Park, with its waterfalls, valleys, and tall trees, is one such place. What’s on your destination bucket list? Tell us in the comments below! | 📷: IG's american.hiker

Out of all the spots to hike in Zion National Park, The Narrows – a section of the North Fork of the Virgin River passing through Zion Canyon – is one of the most memorable. Here, hikers pass through sections where the canyon stretches up 1,000 feet, but the river itself is no more than 20- to 30-feet wide, and as a result, those attempting this part either make it a long, sometimes strenuous day hike, and others split it into a two-day backpacking adventure. There’s more than one way to reach the summit during the summer months. Many decide to take along a day pack and hiking boots to make the journey, but others, like IG's kayla_adventures_ on St. Regis Mountain, lace up their trail running shoes for a different approach. This time of year, how do you prefer to climb that mountain? Tell us in the comments below!

On the North Branch of the Saranac River, Lake Kushaqua was the site of one of the first hotels in the Adirondacks. Now, it’s the location of Buck Pond Campground, where many like IG's userwiththatnamealreadyexists travel to fish, paddle, and spend the night under the stars. For campers out there, have you ever spent some time here? Tell us about your trip!

Although many come to Lake Placid to hike and paddle, the region features a few climbing opportunities, including Keene Valley and Beer Walls, which offer routes ranging from 5.4 to 5.13.
