How we reduced the weight of the HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carriers by almost 390 tonnes: bit.ly/2tOvz2M

On June 27, 2017, history was made as the HMS Queen Elizabeth, the largest warship ever built for the UK Royal Navy, embarked on its first sea trials. We installed more than 4.1 km (2.5 miles) of Bondstrand® glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) pipework, consisting of 2,000 GRE pipe spools, along with specialist bulkhead penetrations and more than 1,314 m² (4,311 ft²) of phenolic FRP grating for the forward and aft islands and flight deck catwalks on this historic vessel. We also supplied the same solutions to the sister ship HMS Prince of Wales, which is currently under construction. Between the two vessels, our fiberglass solutions saved approximately 390 tonnes of weight when compared with metallic alternatives. Our VectorEDGE™ rotary steerable system (RSS) was featured as part of Drilling Contractor’s July/August “Innovating While Drilling” section. Paul Neil, director of steerable technologies, discusses how RSS technologies must not only enable faster drilling in longer laterals but also be more durable and reliable in challenging unconventional wells. http://bit.ly/2gPQCAD
Today's rotary steerable systems (RSS) are being developed with one primary goal: delivering high-quality wellbores at low cost. Some service companies are reducing costs by developing more durable tools that can drill for longer in harsh environments, while others are focused on reducing the cost o...

A constant stream of incoming data and tasks that need attention can threaten to overwhelm the driller. Read how NOVOS™ eases this burden, resulting in safer and more efficient well construction. http://bit.ly/2uCmcHS

Our latest Drilling Contractor article details how a two-well trial of our multistage ball-actuated, sleeve-based stimulation system in the North Sea led to full field-wide implementation of the technology. This allowed the operator to optimize perforation spacing and significantly reduce operational time. Check out the article here: http://bit.ly/2tpDiJ6
Wells in the North Sea that require multistage fracturing have typically used cemented plug-and-perf completions. Although this method is widely used due to historical precedent, its stimulation effects can sometimes underdeliver. As a result, NOV designed the i-Frac systems.

Location, location, location. When we built a seawater and produced water treatment module for BW Offshore, the key location of our facility enabled them to easily transport the completed module just 31 miles to the FPSO integration yard in Singapore. The facility’s proximity to the integration yard minimized handling of the module, which allowed it to be installed directly onto the FPSO, reducing the burden of transporting such large capital equipment.
