After a blowout win over Baylor, the Pokes travel down to Austin to face the Longhorns in a highly anticipated match up! Here's a few tidbits to help you get through the week!

Chris' University Spirit is at Boone Pickens Stadium.
5 Questions w/ Robert Allen 1. What did we learn from the Baylor game? The defense could make a major adjustment after that first touchdown drive from Baylor. The defense came off the field with wide-eyed stares after the Bears drove the length of the field, but the adjustments were made rapidly. The defense stayed mentally tough after the fumbled fair catch by Jalen McCleskey and willed the turnover to get the offense the ball back. It was a huge momentum play. I already knew that the worse thing that can happen to an opponent is to have James Washington make a mistake, drop, fumble, missed block, etc. When he screws up, Washington comes back with a vengeance and he did against Baylor on Saturday. We learned that back-up quarterback Taylor Cornelius is faster than you might think. I guess Oklahoma State may be better at punching out inferior opponents than OU. 2. Can James Washington win the Heisman? I don't think so. Defenses can really limit a receiver and they will really start doubling Washington. You can't limit a quarterback unless the offensive line is just puddy. Quarterback Mason Rudolph is the best Heisman candidate for the Cowboys, and remember, Oklahoma State is a tough place to win a Heisman because so many of the Heisman voters are going to go for the best player from a blue blood school. Washington could get a New York trip, but even that will be hard to get done. 3. Which injury is the biggest problem right now? This week it is center Brad Lundblade. I think that Johnny Wilson has done an excellent job of filling in, but Texas has Poona Ford inside and he is a veteran nose that is really talented and a load to deal with. Lundblade has gone against him for the last two years and knows him well. You simply can't replace the previous three and a half years of playing experience that you get with Lundblade. Wilson and red-shirt freshman offensive guard Teven Jenkins have done well, but it would be nice to get another senior back on the field on the O-line. 4. Which commitment in the recruiting class outside of Denton Ryan quarterback Spencer Sanders are you most impressed with? That is easy, the other four-star commitment in C.J. Moore of Tulsa Union. Mark my words there are some really good players in this class as I like all the offensive linemen and Jacob Farrell at Sulphur is a vastly underrated guy. I like Kilgore wide receiver Jonathan Shepherd a lot and the running back, from San Antonio Brennan, Jahmyl Jeter, is also really good. However, Moore could get the ball every play. Nobody at the high school level can cover his size, his speed, and his overall, athletic ability. An opposing coach told me that Union could throw to him every play and complete 9-out-of-10 and the reason they would miss on one would be the quarterback having a poor pass. Moore can make the play every down at the high school level. 5. What current player has surprised you the most? I'm going with Ramon Richards, who has really blossomed with his move to safety. The coaching staff knew that Richards is a "peeker" and likes to look in the backfield and see what the quarterback is up to. It comes from being a high school quarterback himself. Facing up to the offense has revealed a variety of strengths in Richards' game including his open field tackling which has been excellent. Richards is better in coverage from the safety position and more in the middle of the field. Richards has always brought good attitude and positive vibes to the defense. Can you say that anybody is surprised by Rudolph, Washington, Ateman, and Hill? I came in thinking that they would all be good.
