Cardinal Towing shared St Charles County Missouri's post.
Total Eclipse News: There is a Facebook post making the rounds that is attributed to the St. Charles County Division of Emergency Management with information about eclipse traffic, etc. This was NOT posted by the division. The following information is from the division: • According to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), officials are expecting 300,000 to 1.2 million visitors in Missouri for the eclipse. • Locally, in St. Charles County, the Division of Emergency Management is expecting 20,000 to 30,000 visitors based on hotel reservations and other sources. • First responders, including fire, EMS and law enforcement, are thoroughly prepared to provide needed services throughout the county to residents and visitors during the eclipse. • Motorists should be prepared for a high volume of traffic on roads throughout the day. Traffic may be at a standstill for long periods of time on main thoroughfares and other roads, especially during and after the eclipse. • The division has no knowledge of chartered planes coming in to Missouri from Europe and Japan to view the eclipse. • The Total Eclipse in the Park events at St. Charles County’s Klondike, Broemmelsiek, and Quail Ridge parks are at capacity and registration is closed. Those attending must have the parking pass included in the registration packet to enter these parks. Fire and EMS will be stationed at each park at designated cooling/first aid stations. Metro Air Support will be available to assist if needed. • By law, motorists are not allowed to park vehicles on roadways in ways that block or impede traffic. Those who do will have their vehicles towed immediately by law enforcement at the owner’s expense. For more eclipse driving tips and information, please view the division’s latest press release:
