Sump Pump Failure and Storm Water. Heavy rain is expected the next couple of days. If you have a sump pump make sure everything is in good working condition. An extra heavy flow from storm could overwhelm your pump if it’s dirty or undersized. You’ll want to make sure the drain is completely clear of sediment as well. If your sump pump looks like this (sediment buildup) or if you need help to inspect your sump pump system give us a call. We’ll make sure you’re ready.

Protect your home from water main breaks. Problems with public water line systems happen. Some are more severe than others. When breaks happen in water mains like the recent occurrence in Concord outside of Charlotte, ground water, silt, bacteria, and other contaminants are sucked into the water line, free to make their way to your home's faucets. Watch this informative video with Charlotte's Paul Stefano on measures you can take to protect your home and family from contaminated water. Paul is General Manager at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.

Shout out to our partner company... July 17, 1902 was a great day in history...
Anniversary of Air Conditioning! On this day in 1902 Willis Haviland Carrier designed the first modern air conditioning system. It’s been hot and muggy in Charlotte, so let’s take a moment to thank him! Like most great inventions it began with a solution to a problem and evolved to be much more. The problem was temperature and humidity changes wreaking havoc on a printing company, causing the paper to expand and contract. Carrier’s invention was finalized on July 17, 1902 and it not only solved the printing company’s problem, it launched an entire industry that revolutionized workforce productivity and personal home comfort. This first system was designed to maintain a constant year-round humidity of 44 percent and have the equivalent cooling effect of melting 108,000 pounds of ice per day. And yes, he went on to start the Carrier Corporation. Here’s a link to this fascinating story. Thank you Willis Carrier! http://www.williscarrier.com/1876-1902.php
