SCCF is a nonprofit organization that manages over 1800 acres of land on and around Sanibel & Captiva Islands.

Our Nature Center on Sanibel has four miles of trails, an observation tower, exhibits, and a butterfly house.

We offer a wide array of education programs for all ages, including beach and trail walks, boat and kayak tours, wading trips, and classroom-based activities.

The Marine Laboratory actively conducts research in areas including seagrasses, mangroves, harmful algal blooms, fish populations and shellfish restoration. SCCF’s RECON (River, Estuary and Coastal Observing Network) sensors provide real-time, hourly readings of key water quality parameters.

Ecological and wildlife studies are conducted by the Wildlife Habitat Management staff, making the most of he 1,800+ acres under the ownership of SCCF. Vegetation studies and mapping, and surveys and studies on gopher tortoises, snakes, frogs, nesting shorebirds, and sea turtles are just some of the WHM research projects.

Our Native Landscapes & Garden Center, located at 1300 Periwinkle Way, has a wide selection of native plants for sale, and also offers landscaping and educational services.
