Pictured is Albany’s first ambulance, parked outside City Hall. It was given to the city by Alfred E Babock from Albany’s American Legion. The cost then was about $3,900 and it was one of the first models manufactured by Strudebaker. A crude adjustment for inflation would make this into about a $53,000 ambulance if it were bought today. The committee of Albany’s American Legion are pictured from left to right they follow as : P.A. Natheney, H.R. McFeeters, Clarence Caldwell, Walt Stuart, Wallace Eakin, Frank Stellmacher, Kenneth Bloom, George Cernik, and last Jay Palmer. This picture was taken in December 1925.

RFK comes to town! Robert Kennedy makes a stop in Albany, Oregon during his Presidential campaign on May 8th, 1968. According to the Democrat-Herald, Kennedy was on his way from Oregon City to Eugene. Many Oregonians from around the area came to participate. During his speech, Kennedy told the crowd, "The capital of my state (New York) is named after your town!" Unfortunately, he was assassinated just a month after these photos were taken. The farm-to-table event in 2017 was so fantastic. A great time was had by all, a big thanks to Albany Visitors Association and Sybaris Restaurant. This is such a cool gift for Chef Bennett, way to go AVA!
So here's a cool thing: AVA Director Jimmie Lucht presents Sybaris Restaurant Chef Matt Bennett with a photo taken by Dennis Rivera. The image is from one of our "farm-to-table" dinners and shows Chef Bennett infusing the meal with a bit of magical fairy dust. Well, ok... it's really salt, but the entire meal was magic! Thanks to Sybaris' participation, a large donation was raised for the Albany Regional Museum.
