Hideaway Pizza’s casual dining concept was created by Richard “The Big Kahuna” Dermer and his wife, Marti, in 1957 near the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
The original location, known as The Hideaway, gained popularity among Stillwater locals and OSU students with its relaxed, irreverent style, eclectic atmosphere and signature, hearty style of thin crust pizza. Dermer built his company on the premise that happy employees equals happy guests, a winning formula that over the years has built a highly devoted fan base that continues grow to almost 60 years later!
The first Hideaway Pizza expansion restaurant opened in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Cherry Street District (1419 E. 15th St.). By the end of 2018, Hideaway Pizza has successfully grown its footprint to include 18 restaurants in the Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Little Rock metro areas.
