South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind is a private, non profit organization and was founded in 1964 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Our mission is to EMPLOY, EDUCATE, and EMPOWER our neighbors who are blind or visually impaired. We employ individuals in manufacturing, retail services, and administration who are blind or visually impaired. We also offer Adaptive Technology (computer skills) and Orientation and Mobility (cane travel) classes to individuals with vision loss.
At our two manufacturing locations - one in Corpus Christi and one in Victoria, Texas, we manufacture a variety of products for the federal government under the AbilityOne program. These products include over 350 varieties of three ring binders, index tabs, mousepads, wristpads, candles, and flyers gloves. We also operate base supply stores at multiple military installations including Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, Kingsville Naval Air Station, Travis Air Force Base, Naval Air Station Meridian and Columbus Air Force Base.
