"A man never stands as tall as when he kneels to help a child."
In late 2006, a small group of friends, with a wealth of community volunteer experience, came together in an effort to understand the unmet needs of children in foster care.
During a 15 month process of research and review, the Foundation for Foster Children's founding board of directors conducted extensive research to determine the unmet needs of foster children in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties. As a result, the Foundation for Foster Children concluded:
The Foundation's initial focus will address normalcy and the educational needs of foster children
The Foundation will function in a facilitator-type role, bringing together community organizations dedicated to meeting the needs of foster children.
The Foundation is committed to raising awareness and support for foster children in the tri-county area through collaborative leadership between the public and private sectors
In September 2007, the Foundation for Foster Children was created. The mission of the Foundation for Foster Children is to enrich the lives of children placed in foster care due to abuse and neglect by providing opportunities that nurture their ability to succeed both as individuals and contributing members of our community.
