HISTORY
Eastside Community Aid Thrift Shop was founded by fourteen Eastside women who wanted to support local social service agencies. The fourteen women started out doing garage sales and donating the money raised to the charities. Encouraged by their success and awareness that there was much unmet need, those women founded ECA and opened the thrift shop. It was initially located in downtown Redmond and is now operating in Kirkland at the Totem Lake West Shopping Center.

ECA helps by providing a place in the community where ordinary people can make a difference. The money raised at our Thrift Shop is given away in the form of grants. Our volunteers vote on the grant requests and award the grants throughout the year to Eastside non-profits who directly serve the community. In addition, ECA gives away free clothing and other items to people and families in need and referred to us by other local agencies. All of the items sold in our Thrift Shop come from donations. We take those donated items, add many volunteer hours, open our doors and sell the items at great prices to provide baby formula, new clothes for a needy child, or a safe haven for domestic violence victims. The recipients may never know where the funds that helped them came from but they will know that their community cares.
