Conditions continue to improve on the Arkansas River!

Great conditions have returned to the upper Arkansas!

Good News for fishery flows and water quality! Heavy rains on the eastern plains have raised the river below Pueblo and soaked the fields, causing many farmers to reduce or curtail their diversions. That, coupled with the additional water, has pushed the river call to 1949, putting many junior water rights into priority. The result of this for the upper river (above Pueblo) is that nearly all ditches will be diverting and storage of native water in our upper reservoirs is in priority. Action by the Twin Lakes Canal Company alone has reduced the discharge from Twin Lakes by 260 cfs today! Couple this with cool weather and declining tributaries and the stage is set for a serious drop in flows and a significant improvement in water quality. We expect flows in the 500 cfs range this weekend with much improved visibility - a great gift from Mother Nature and the Prior Appropriation system!

Great days... ArkAnglers' guide Joel Morgan reported one of his best days guiding yesterday. Ever. Nice fish Gwyn!

ArkAnglers shared Walkwadefloat's post.
Meanwhile, back on the Arkansas...
'Tis the fishing season, great day of fishing for these two!
