Union Hospital is located on a 28-acre medical campus in Dover, Ohio and has been the center for health care in the Tuscarawas Valley for over 100 years.

Union Hospital provides 154 inpatient beds in Medical, Surgical, Pediatric, Maternity, Critical Care, and Inpatient Rehabilitation nursing units. The hospital employs approximately 1,000 professional and support staff and includes a medical staff of 185 physicians. Over the past decade, Union Hospital has seen dramatic growth in its facilities, technology, and the number of patients served.

HealthGrades, the nation’s leading independent healthcare ratings organization, named Union Hospital as a recipient of its Emergency Medicine Excellence Award in 2010 and 2011. HealthGrades ranks Union Hospital among the top 5 percent of the nation’s hospitals in the care of patients admitted with the 12 most common life-threatening health emergencies. In 2011 Union Hospital received the HealthGrades Patient Safety Excellence Award, placing UH among the nation’s top 5 percent of all hospitals for patient safety.

The Maternity Center includes six Labor, Delivery, Recovery suites and seventeen beautiful private patient rooms. With a staff of board-certified obstetricians, pediatricians, family physicians, and qualified nursing staff, the Maternity Center offers our families a comfortable, family-oriented birth experience.

The Emergency Department serves more than 40,000 patients annually. The ED is staffed by emergency residency trained physicians and a skilled nursing staff. The Emergency Express enables many emergency patients to be treated and discharged in an hour or less.

Union Hospital FirstCare provides convenient walk-in care for minor illness and injuries seven days a week. FirstCare, located on Oxford St. in Dover, is open weekdays 7 am to 9 pm and weekends 8 am to 4 pm.

The Department of Surgery utilizes five surgical suites in the hospital as well as the Tuscarawas Ambulatory Surgery Center, a free-standing same-day surgery facility for additional scheduling flexibility.

Union Hospital offers comprehensive rehabilitation services. The Inpatient Rehabilitation Center provides patients with intensive physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy following a stroke, joint replacement, or neurological disease. After discharge many patients continue their rehabilitation at the Union Hospital Healthplex. This is a beautiful and spacious outpatient rehabilitation center for physical and occupational therapy, aqua-therapy, and sports medicine services.

The Regional Cancer Center and staff surgeons offer comprehensive cancer care including radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hematology, and surgery.

The Workplace Wellness Department serves local employers with a wide range of health and wellness programs, delivered on site, to promote the health of employees. The Community Health and Wellness staff offers a schedule of free community health fairs and health screening events, informational programs, and school health programs.

Other specialized programs and services include the Sleep Disorder Center, Pain Management Center, Wound Healing Center, Vascular Laboratory, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
