Burgess was founded in 1936-37 by Charles O. Burgess under the name Burgess Hearse and Ambulance Sales, Inc, selling hearses and ambulances for the Flexible Corporation in Loudonville, Ohio. In 1964, they purchased the Young Brothers building, moving the dealership to the location where it still is today. It is now owned by Jack Burgess Sr. and Jack Burgess, Jr.
