"While friends look forward to barbecues and boating during the first long weekend of the summer, I'm making plans for my annual cemetery tour in northwest Missouri. "I promised my dad before he died that I'd put flowers on his parents' grave, as well as his, every Memorial Day. Although he knew my mom would, he wanted reassurance that someone would continue the tradition after she was gone. "My mom's still here, but I've made a point of visiting the graves every year." Aberdeen Village celebrated #RedNoseDay throughout our community. We were proud to show off our Red Noses for a great cause. Red Nose Day funds programs in all 50 states and in some of the poorest communities in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Red Nose Day was created out of the firm belief that the power of mass media and high-profile celebrities can raise awareness on issues of poverty and save millions of lives. We're happy to support it.

When Lynette Whiteman’s youngest child went to college, Whiteman went out and got a second dog that she calls “my empty nest dog.” She wanted someone else to care for, “who loves me non-judgmentally and doesn’t mind if I’m gaining weight or getting gray.”

Our annual Art is Ageless exhibit featuring the work of area artists ages 65 and older is open today through May 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information, visit www.ArtisAgeless.org.
Come and view artwork by area seniors throughout the exhibit April 24 to May 26, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Plan to join us at 3 p.m. May 19 when we recognize the winners of our local competition. Since the beginning of time, creative expression has brought joy to both its creators and those who experience their art. The Art is Ageless® program offers senior artists the opportunity to share and display their artwork and reaffirms the agelessness of human creativity. Some have resumed art after putting it aside for a career, others have been creating beautiful pieces throughout their lives, and others never picked up a brush until after they retired, but all are now expressing themselves through art.
