To achieve its mission, FNC provides family support and education programs to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect by building parents’ nurturing skills and knowledge of healthy child development and connecting families to each other, to their community, and resources. FNC works collaboratively with parents, professionals, community-based organizations, and private and public institutions to make it easier for families to provide safe, nurturing homes and neighborhoods for their children, particularly in those areas where economic disadvantage threatens child health and well-being. FNC employs two main strategies for supporting families: Nurturing Parenting Programs and neighborhood-based Family Support Networks. In addition, FNC leverages its funding and expertise by providing Training and Technical Assistance to spread both strategies and build capacity across Boston and Massachusetts.
