South Bend Modern Molding (SBMM) was founded in 1942 and is a manufacturer of molded rubber products and assemblies made from virgin and recycled rubber. SBMM provides products to a diverse customer base spanning all industries. SBMM employs in house engineers and chemists as well as marketing experts to help bring products from original concept to the end consumer. Certified to worldwide standards, ISO/TS-16949 quality system and ISO-14001 environmental system, SBMM continues to strive for the highest standards in efficiency and quality.

Historically a job shop, SBMM now has a dozen products that have been awarded patents or that are patent pending along with many other innovative products where SBMM has worked closely with the inventors to bring their idea to market. These innovative products include, blast barriers for military assets and troop deployment protection, noise barrier walls for highways, railways, and airports; lawn & garden products, dog toys, reusable flood and erosion control products, rooftop support mounts for solar panels, pipe and metal strut installation. These new business opportunities continue to grow the customer base which already includes 140 unique customers over all major industries.

New product innovation and growth in historical product lines have increased sales by 100% over the past 4 years with continuing double digit year over year growth. Employment opportunities also continue to increase at a similar rate as new positions are needed from operators to upper management. SBMM was chosen as a ‘Indiana Companies to Watch in 2014’ recognizing the growth that the company has experienced and the future opportunities available.
