Special Olympics Iowa is a nonprofit organization serving Iowans with intellectual disabilities. SOIA serves athletes in each of Iowa's 99 counties, and provides training and competitions in 23 Olympic-type sports. Approximately 12,000 athletes and Unified Sports Partners participate in SOIA events and competitions on an annual basis. SOIA makes a positive difference in the lives of our athletes, their families and communities with more than 15,000 individuals and 2,000 certified coaches who volunteer to participate in the programs.
