Recently a good friend of mine took at Honda 175 to Bonneville Salt Flats for speed week. Last year he had broken a record on the bike and this year he knew he could go much faster. So he disassembled the whole bike and put it back together again for the run this year. When I asked him about the runs this year he told me he did break some records but he thought they would be broken soon by others. He said the bike wasn't running right. The problem? A small fuel pump. A relatively small part kept the bike from running at full speed. When we look at our own purpose in life, we may feel like we're insignificant. We're not the flashy fuel tank that is brightly painted with decals and numbers. We're not the bright fenders, or the powerful engine that turns the chain. We're not the frame that holds it all together. We're a small insignificant looking piece of metal, in a church, organization, or family. We faithfully attend, work, and love. The media doesn't come to our door asking about us. No books are written about us. Google our names and nothing shows up, but God tells us how important we are to Him. Ephesians 2:110 "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." He fashioned the part we would play in this life, and created us for good works.Never underestimate the purpose God created you for. Be the best fuel pump for Jesus you can be. Pastor Ken

Job 8:21 says ""He will yet fill your mouth with laughter And your lips with shouting. " Job was being told, "Youre not laughing now, but God will restore that laughter and joy. When I was working at Fouts Springs Boys Ranch up in the mountains I Had a routine. I would drive into the gas station, wave at the attendant and he would turn on the pump so I could fill up. Then I would go in, pay him, get in the truck and leave. One day I switched cars with a friend, and so I had his truck. His fuel filler was on the other side. So when I drove in that morning, I was behind the truck and the attendant could not see me. I took the nozzle and put it in the truck, and went inside to tell him to turn on the pump. When I left the attendant my brain was in routine mode. I got in the truck and drove off. I got just to the driveway when a friend was pulling in. He wouldn't get out of the way, he just sat there. Finally, he yelled out "What is that hanging from the side of your truck?" It was the nozzle from the gas pump with about a six foot section of hose. Not only did I have to tell the attendant I drove off with his nozzle, but I hadn't even filled my truck with gas yet. I wasn't laughing then, but I can sure laugh about it now. Even laugh at myself. My joy has been fully restored. The crisis is over. Our happiness is fleeting, but our joy is not easily taken. Realize that God wants to restore your laughter and your victory. Its how He is.l Pastor Ken

Storms. Its funny, but in California we call it a storm if the sky if full of clouds, its raining and the wind is blowing. This past week the big news was the funnel cloud over Lake Tahoe. If you asked someone from Oklahoma about storms, they would give a different account. And then if you asked someone from South Texas or Florida, they would doubt that California has anything that would classify as a real storm. Storms are destructive. The recent hurricanes cost billions of dollars and loss of life. But a storm does something else. It caused the media to shift from all that is wrong in our country, to all that is right. We were treated to views of people rescuing others. We saw neighbor helping neighbor. We saw people lined up with their boats for miles, trying to help. The storm caused people to pray and get closer to God. Each storm helps us to figure out how best to navigate the next one. You know, our situations in life are not unlike storms. Some of these situations are pretty destructive. Yet God tells us it is out of the storms we learn some pretty valuable lessons. We learn that God is faithful. We learn that wisdom comes from Him. We learn that we are not in charge of how another person reacts, only our own responses. We learn storms blow over. No storm stays forever. Mark 4:39 shows us the power God has over the storms of life. "Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. “Silence! He commanded. “Be still!” And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm." That's the confidence and faith we have in Him through the storms of life. Pastor Ken

Saturday was our first Band of Brothers outing as we hit the links in Colusa. It was a warm day, and some of us were hot. Some of us not so hot. But all had fun in this memorable day. We shot an 82. (Combined best ball).

We are endeavoring to Love God and love people. Part of that is through our Love Colusa ministry. Recently we had a nacho feed to raise funds for Love Colusa. What fun it was to gather and give so that others might have the Good News.
