Church of Christ

The mission of the Hendersonville church is to love God supremely, to serve others unselfishly, to know Christ intimately, and honor His Word faithfully as we make Him known in a spirit of unity.

We want to be a Bible-centered church. And we try to be, yet we know that our conclusions aren’t flawless, and that our practices are sometimes colored by habit, preference, tradition, or convenience. But we seek to honor God with all we do. We’re a diverse group, coming from varied backgrounds, and at different stages of knowledge and spiritual growth. We are all on a spiritual journey. No matter who you are, what you've done, you are welcome here.

If you visit on a Sunday:
One of the most distinctive things about churches of Christ is that the music is "a cappella." That is, we sing without the accompaniment of musical instruments. The song lyrics and music will be projected on the screen for convenience.

There will be several prayers during the service led by members. We will also read scripture, directly from the Bible.

Churches of Christ observe the Lord's Supper every Sunday. During this memorial, plates containing unleavened bread will be passed. Each participating person will break off a piece of the bread and eat it. Next, trays filled with small cups containing "fruit of the vine,’ (grape juice) symbolizing the blood of Jesus. Each participant will drink the contents of one of the cups. If you choose not to participate, just pass the plate or tray to the person next to you.

Also, plates will be passed to collect the weekly financial offering. As our guest, you are *not* expected to make a donation. Please just pass the collection plate down the row.

Except for the first Sunday of the month, children 2yo-2nd grade are invited to participate in Children's Worship. After the Lord's Supper, they may go to the front of the auditorium to be greeted by the couple facilitating the day's Children's Worship Program. They then go down the main hall to the children's worship room, where they enjoy a lesson, singing, and a puppet show reinforcing the days lesson. On the first Sunday of the month, there are Busy Bags located in the lobby to help little ones sit through the worship service, as we know attention spans are short, But we feel it is important for children to feel a part of regular worship with the congregation.

The sermon will likely be about 30 minutes in length. Our minister, Ethan Brown, is a passionate speaker, and is well-trained in Biblical and spiritual study. We think you will find the message Bible-centered, and full of encouragement to lead a life in tune with God.

At the close of the sermon, the minister will "extend an invitation." This is simply an expedient time to invite those who are moved to do so to make a commitment or request prayer support.

We conclude our service with announcements about up-coming events and activities. Please make sure you linger in the lobby to let us greet you, and get to know you better.
