Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing

Sheen Housing was established on December 12, 1967 to help low-income families purchase their first homes by providing loans and grants for closing costs. Over the past years, programs and staff have been added to address a wider range of urban and rural housing needs. Today Sheen Housing supports not only families, seniors, veterans and persons with disabilities but also organizations that provide housing for low-income people. We provide home repair services to decrease substandard housing conditions that threaten the health and safety of residents. We offer home ownership opportunities and housing counseling. We provide affordable rental opportunities for families, seniors and persons with disabilities. Our service area includes the Counties of: Allegany, Cayuga, Chemung, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne and Yates.

Sheen Housing has expertise in program compliance and reporting systems required by NYS Homes and Community Renewal, NYS Affordable Housing Corporation, US Department of Housing and Urban Development and other agencies. As such, Sheen Housing has established a favorable reputation with federal, state and local housing agencies. An expert Board directs program focus and planning with the assistance of a professional staff.
