The MY HERO website was established in 1995 as a safe, commercial-free, child-friendly environment in which people around the world could express their creative visions. It was built to enable individuals to share stories, art, short films and audio about the heroes that inspire them and, in turn, to inspire others. Over the years, educational workshops and film festivals were added to the Media Arts Program and The MY HERO Project became a platform for creative expression, collaborative learning, cross-cultural communication and activism.
