The time was 1957 when Helen and Ed Kobacker opened a small Mom and Pop grocery store on North Main Street in Brewster, New York. Helen and Ed set the stage of commitment to their community by providing not only fresh produce and meats but by supporting their small town community by giving back to their neighbors.
By 1970 Kobacker’s had expanded and moved to its new location to where it stands now on North Main Street. There were many changes made to the new store and long with those changes came Brenda Kobacker, for the next thirty years she greeted shoppers making them feel welcomed and at home giving Kobacker’s the warm and friendly appeal it still holds today. Many of the teenagers in Brewster began their working careers with their first job at Kobacker’s.
Kim and Frank Milano are the third generation family owners of Kobacker’s Market. This wonderful “Home-Town” feeling hits as soon as you step through the front door. Kobacker’s Market remains today one of the few independently owned and operated grocery stores in the area. Kobacker’s Market is like a breath of fresh air over the “big box” chains.
