Atria Senior Living shared Atria Kennebunk's post.
Atria Kennebunk chefs paired up with their local police and fire chiefs for a heated Chef Showdown.
Today marked Atria Kennebunk’s second annual Chef Show Down which encouraged friendly competition between the Kennebunk Police Department and Kennebunk Fire-Rescue., The goal was for both teams to create an appetizer alongside two of Atria Chefs for the big win. Kennebunk’s first responders, Atria residents, and three community judges sampled and offered insight as to which team had the better tasting appetizer. The elite judges table included; Pat Schwebler from The Center, Dave Hollis pianist / entertainer, and Luke Buotte from Kindred at Home. Police Chief Mike Nugent represented Kennebunk Police Department and was paired with Atria Chef Tim Langlois. Fire Chief John Brady represented Kennebunk Fire and Rescue and was paired with Atria Chef Matt Maloney. Team KPD created a mouthwatering BBQ pulled chicken sandwich with a bacon cheddar corn biscuit topped with a fire roasted corn slaw. Team KFP crafted a zesty corn and black bean summer salad with a ginger lime emulsion topped with a hot honey butter corn fritter. Both teams started early in the kitchen and made these dishes from scratch! They demonstrated morale with the residents and guests and gave the judges quite a tough decision! The overall scores were based on taste, plating, and originality. Kennebunk Police department ended up with a final score of 54 points while the Fire Department took the lead with a total of 59 points! The winning team got 6 tickets to see Eaglemania, an Eagles Tribute Band, playing at Aura in Portland the end of this month. Special thanks goes out to Candice Simeoni Court Officer, Amber Wilson Engage Life Director and John Caron Director of Culinary Services along with Atria’s culinary staff for bringing this event together, but the real thanks goes to the wonderful service men and women at Kennebunk Police and Fire who work so hard to keep our community safe. It was a great event and we thank you for your participation.
