Cruising down the road listening to your favorite song is a fun part of summer driving. Cruising down the road at high speeds, however, causes dust pollution that may affect your neighborhood and the quality of your neighbors’ summer. Slow down, keep your dust down.

It's Healthy and Safe Swimming Week — May 22-28! Swimming and other water-related activities are excellent ways to get physical activity and health benefits for a healthy life. However, they are not risk-free. Follow these 4 easy steps to share the fun — not the germs — and make a healthy splash! 1) Stay out of the water if you have diarrhea. 2) Shower before you get in the water. 3) Don't pee or poop in the water. 4) Don't swallow the water. TIER 3 WATERS: We've been busy this spring, working to determine a statewide process for nominating and designating Outstanding National Resource Waters (Tier 3 waters). In Dillingham earlier this month, we hosted a public workshop on Tier 3 waters, preceded by a statewide teleconference on March 23 and public workshops in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau. In case you missed one of these events, there's still time to let us know what you think. We'd like to hear from you. Visit to learn more and give us your feedback by June 15.

Sure, driving at high speeds can be fun, and you might even look kind of cool. But, you know what’s not cool? Poor air quality. When you drive fast, you can create a trail of dust that bothers your friends and neighbors who have respiratory issues. Be a good neighbor and slow down — now that’s cool.
