Youth Advocate Services (YAS) is the oldest Therapeutic Foster Care Program in Ohio. For over 35 years YAS has successfully collaborated with other child serving agencies to provide treatment foster care in contribution to the development and implementation of a community support system here in Franklin County. Over the past two years, YAS has branched out to provide mental/behavioral health services to children and their families in the community using a holistic wrap-around approach.
YAS applies innovative thinking along with evidence-based informed practices to partner with children and families in order to identify and treat their needs. YAS incorporates a preventative philosophy into its model with the intention of strengthening children and families in their natural environment, decreasing the need for more restrictive or out of home placements.
Youth Advocate Services is a progressive, nationally accredited, state certified, non-profit child/family caring agency that has served thousands of children and families since 1978. YAS began with the basic premise that all children who are at-risk and vulnerable have a right to live in a family-centered, caring, and loving home rather than in institutions or large residential facilities.
YAS is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees, and maintains a multidisciplinary professional staff that provides excellent services to our children and families. The agency is unique in that it provides year-round cultural, educational, and recreational activities for its foster children.
