Sierra Mental Wellness Group (SMWG) is a private, not-for-profit California corporation chartered under section 501 (c) (3). We began as a grass roots effort to respond to community counseling needs in Roseville in the late 1960’s and incorporated in 1970 as Roseville Area Youth Services (RAYS). In 1981, RAYS merged with Placer Awareness House in Auburn to become Sierra Family Services, Inc. In 2011, we changed our name to Sierra Mental Wellness Group. Throughout the years, the agency has continued to grow and respond to community needs. SMWG currently provides clinical centers of excellence in Roseville, Auburn and Tahoe City. We have developed and adapted an array of services as the population and complexity of our community increases. Our crisis services provide rapid response to psychiatric emergencies in Placer, Colusa, and Nevada counties.
