Well done , Governor Sununu. We and the animals thank you for your support.
Today, we joined with leaders from the New Hampshire SPCA, Upper Valley Humane Society, NH Humane Society, and Humane Society for Greater Nashua as Governor Sununu declared February as Spay & Neuter Awareness Month. We thank Governor Sununu for his compassion and commitment to reducing pet overpopulation here in the Granite State.

Just a reminder that February is Pet Dental Health Month. Please keep their teeth clean for good health.

New Hampshire citizens: Wildlife needs your help TODAY. House Bill 381 would add native wildlife to our state's animal cruelty laws ensuring that charges could be brought against those who purposely "torture, mutilate or beat" a wild animal and the House of Representatives will vote on this tomorrow. Despite agreement from many stakeholders, including NH Fish & Game, that this issue needs to be addressed, and despite a request to the House Fish & Game Committee to allow the bill to be retained so that all parties can work on language that both protects wildlife AND protects lawful practices such as hunting and trapping, a few anti-animal legislators have led an effort to kill this bill showing a lack of concern for the very wildlife species they state they are committed to conserving. They pushed to kill the bill in committee in a 12-9 vote and they are now pushing to kill this bill on the House floor. Our request on the House floor is not to pass this bill as written but to simply "table" this bill to allow parties to work on language. Even with such a conservative request, they are determined to place special interests above the protection of our wild animals from egregious torture and mutilation and we need to send a strong message in response. Here's how you can ensure your voice is heard: 1. Look up your Representative(s): http://bit.ly/1c4Gitx 2. Call and email each one of them and urge them to support a motion to "table" House Bill 381-FN TONIGHT. You can simply say, "My name is X from X (town), NH and I am contacting you today to urge you to support a motion to table House Bill 381 to send a message that New Hampshire's native wildlife are of value and deserve protection." 3. Join us at the State House tomorrow morning (Thursday) from 9:30-10:00am to pass out flyers urging their support. Email lhamrick@humanesociety.org for details! Thank you!

The hope for the future is that animal shelters will no longer be necessary....Please spay or neuter your pet. It will alleviate over abundance of unwanted animals and keep your pet healthier in the long run.
