Jewish Collaborative Services of Rhode Island, a multi-faceted agency providing a variety of services to Jewish elders and their families, is the developer and sponsor of The Phyllis Siperstein Tamarisk RI Assisted Living Residence.
The Tamarisk tree has long been a symbol of hospitality dating back to biblical times in the land of Israel. Consistent with its quest to enrich the quality of life for older adults and their families, Jewish Collaborative Services of Rhode Island has chosen Tamarisk as the name of its unique assisted living residence. It is in the spirit of this desert tree that Tamarisk is a symbol of Hospitality, making all who come here feel welcomed, comforted and protected.
The mission of Jewish Collaborative Services of Rhode Island is to ensure access to a continuum of care for Jewish seniors in the greater Rhode Island community through the direct provision of services, and in coordination with other services.

Tamarisk’s New England style residence, with covered porches, courtyards, gardens and walking paths, welcomes you with the warmth and charm of a gracious home. Our 66-unit community is comprised of studio, and one- and two- bedroom apartments complemented by a full range of support services. The apartments are bright and spacious. Each features individualized heating and cooling as well as a private bath. There is ample room for treasured furniture and belongings. Every apartment is equipped with an individual assistance call and monitoring system, in addition to cable and computer also offers a large, open lobby, staffed with a concierge to answer questions and direct residents to each day’s activities. A community room is also available for large gatherings, cultural programs, and religious services. Residents can spend quiet time in the fire-placed parlor and library, or share a snack and a coffee or tea with friends during the day in our Bistro. There is a south-facing sunroom that opens to a common garden and courtyard, surrounded by flowerbeds, walking paths, and a majestic trellised pavilion. All these amenities are intended to promote enjoyable living.

Personalized Care at Tamarisk, you are reassured knowing you made the right choice. Our experienced staff provides attentive, personalized care that we feel helps relieve you of many of the responsibilities you once shouldered. An individual Service Plan is developed for each resident that allows you to be as independent as you wish with some assistance and services built in to your lifestyle as needed. At Tamarisk, up to one hour of personal care a day and medication management provided by trained, licensed staff under the supervision of our Resident Care Director, a registered nurse; along with a 24 hour emergency response system are included for your safety and peace of mind.
At Tamarisk, our Wellness Philosophy incorporates a holistic approach to aging focuses on physical health, psychological functioning and social interaction. Our “Seniors in Motion” Fitness Program provides a wide array of programs to strengthen and condition bodies and to promote a healthy regimen of diet and exercise to increase balance and prevent falls. From seated exercise to Tai Chi to Massage and Reflexology, the Tamarisk resident is enriched and strengthened in body, mind and spirit!
