Farmers State Bank

Our history dates back to 1875. Williams, Railsback, Quigg and Mitchell purchased land and constructed a building on First Farmers State Bank’s current location in Minier, Illinois. It opened its doors for business under the name Williams, Railsback and Co. Bank of Minier with Quigg as its Cashier and Mitchell as the Assistant Cashier.

Ten years later, Quigg purchased Williams’ interest, and we became known as the Minier Bank of Quigg, Railsback and Co. In 1906, we became Farmers State Bank of Minier, and in 1975, we became First Farmers State Bank of Minier.

In 1994, we opened our first branch in Delavan, Illinois, and two years later in 1996, we purchased and began using the former Commerce Bank branch building at 301 Locust Street in Delavan.

We changed our name one last time in 2002, dropping “Minier” from the name, becoming simply First Farmers State Bank to better serve all of our communities.

In 2005, we expanded into the Bloomington-Normal community and operated out of a temporary facility until our permanent Bloomington branch location opened the following year at 4001 Road.
