Shirley Lemelle started the business 35 years ago in a two bedroom house with an additional kitchen. As time went on, she was blessed with the opportunity to build a bigger and better commercial kitchen which still stands today. Shirley Lemelle was not only known for her beautiful cakes, but also for her famous Hot Tamales. Creole cooking was in her blood! Her knowledge of Creole cooking came from her mother whose measuring cup was the palm of her hand. The expertise and generosity of a good cook will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Shirley Lemelle was called home by the LORD; however life goes on and that special beat continues. Most people would agree that the apple does not fall far from the tree. This is 100% true in regards to her daughter, Aaron Lemelle Lastie, who replicates her mother style of cooking. Her journey began at 8 years old and continues today. Seasonings and sauces are at the center of Creole cooking. Aaron will continue her mom’s legacy with grace and dignity. Taste is everything and no substitute will be made!
