Greetings from the McDuffie County School System! The school district is located in east central Georgia about 30 miles west of Augusta. Interstate 20 runs east and west through McDuffie County. Our district is very progressive and features several innovative efforts such as a 4X4 high school schedule and satellite interactive distance learning. Administrators, teachers, and students are eager to share information with other school districts and interested persons.

The McDuffie County School System serves 4,100 students in pre-kindergarten through the twelfth grade. There are six school campuses: Dearing Elementary (grades PK-5), Maxwell Elementary (PK-1), Thomson Elementary (2-3), Norris Elementary (4-5), Thomson-McDuffie Middle (6-8), and Thomson High ( 9-12). The system also features alternative education programs, including the McDuffie Achievement Center and psycho-educational services.

The service area of the school district is McDuffie County with a population of 23,000 including the City of Thomson with a population of 8,000, and the Town of Dearing, ten miles east of Thomson.
