It was a passion for the health industry combined with a deep understanding of its people which founded Vitamin Discount Center. Over time our success can be tracked back to leaning heavily on our core values and foundation of caring about each customer.

In 1998, with healthcare costs skyrocketing, Michael Gore, president of Vitamin Discount Center recognized the need for an affordable solution for people to start taking a proactive approach to their health. With assistance from Arthur Gore, he teamed up with two close friends, David Conner and Michael Downing. The three men had been fraternity brothers in school at the University of South Florida, creating a life-long friendship. With their shared knowledge of the health industry and strong business acumen, Vitamin Discount Center was born.

The founders, having been in the industry for a combined 54 years, had an innate understanding of alternate nutrition, vitamins, supplements and herbs. Together they opened the first Vitamin Discount Center with the knowledge that quality, when it comes to health care, is more important than quantity. After the first store in Carrollwood received such high demand and popularity, a second location was quickly opened to serve the South Tampa area. Today, there are 10 locations throughout Hillsborough and Pinellas County to better serve the entire Bay Area.

“We recognized a need for value. We wanted to open a business with a minimum of 25% off products where you don’t need a membership to get the discount,” says Art Gore, Chairman. The team was so successful in their endeavor that in 2002, VDC was named “Retailer of the Year” by Vitamin Retailer magazine.
With 10 locations, VDC caters to a wide range of customers, from senior citizens to students and athletes. We understand the importance of everyday nutrition, which is why we offer discounts of up to 50% on all products, including Diet &Weight Loss, Family Wellness, Sports Nutrition, Natural Beauty, and Pet Health.
