Fort Adams is a National Historic Landmark and the largest coastal fortress in North America. Tours focus on history, architecture and engineering.
The Fort Adams Trust is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the programming, preservation and restoration of this “Priority I” Threatenedl Landmark.
The Trust has partnered with the State of Rhode Island to keep the Fort open to the public and seek funding for restoration.
Tours depart every hour (10am-4pm), daily, from mid-May through October and are weather permitting. "Off-Season" tours are limited to 12 noon and 2pm daily.
The Fort has been used as the site of a variety of special events, most notably the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals each July~August.
