Our History
St. Luke’s was the first hospital to be established in Duluth in 1881, in response to a typhoid epidemic that was ravaging the city. What began in a small room above a blacksmith’s shop has grown into a regional health care system. St. Luke’s now includes a multi-specialty hospital in Duluth and Lake View Hospital in Two Harbors, and 38 family medicine and specialty clinics throughout Duluth, Hermantown, Hibbing, Mountain Iron, Two Harbors, Silver Bay (Minnesota) and Superior and Ashland (Wisconsin).
